About the Role
The Company is seeking a highly skilled Architectural Draftsperson with strong Revit expertise to work across multiple residential and commercial building projects—supporting the various construction companies within the Group. You will produce accurate, detailed construction drawings, liaise with stakeholders (councils, consultants, contractors), and ensure our designs adhere to best practices in structural and engineering principles. This is a full-time position based in either Cape Town or Rustenburg, South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
• Revit Drafting & Documentation
o Develop and maintain comprehensive 2D/3D drawings, models, and documentation using Revit (primary software).
o Collaborate with internal teams to incorporate design changes, product updates, and engineering requirements.
• Construction Detailing & Methods
o Apply knowledge of steel framing, double-brick, and various other construction techniques to produce viable, compliant drawings.
o Ensure all plans meet local building standards, engineering principles, and code requirements for both residential and commercial projects.
• Project Coordination
o Work closely with local councils to manage permit applications or design feedback.
o Liaise with consultants (structural engineers, mechanical engineers, etc.) to incorporate accurate technical details.
o Communicate with contractors and suppliers regarding design intent, measurements, and material specifications.
• Technical & Product Knowledge
o Maintain a strong understanding of different wall types, roof types, finishing products, and how they integrate.
o Keep abreast of new materials, methods, and innovations in the construction industry.
• Quality Control & Compliance
o Review drawings thoroughly to ensure accuracy, compliance with engineering principles, and alignment with project objectives.
o Troubleshoot design conflicts or buildability issues and propose solutions.
• Teamwork & Communication
o Collaborate with a small, dynamic team in South Africa serving Australian companies, ensuring clarity and efficiency in all project steps.
o Maintain professional communication in English with internal and external stakeholders (council reps, engineers, contractors).
• Initiative & Autonomy
o Manage your own workflow and deadlines in a busy, fast-paced environment.
o Proactively raise queries and offer design improvements when necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
• 5–10 years of hands-on drafting experience (or more), ideally within residential and commercial construction contexts.
• Proficiency in Revit is essential; familiarity with AutoCAD or other BIM software is beneficial but secondary.
• Solid understanding of structural principles, engineering basics, and common building methods (steel framing, double-brick, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to produce detailed construction drawings (wall types, roofing, finishing details, etc.).
• Strong English communication skills—verbal and written—for liaising with councils, consultants, and team members across different locations.
• Self-motivated & initiative: able to handle multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Exposure to Australian building standards (or willingness to learn) is advantageous, but not mandatory.
• SACAP Registered would be advantageous but not mandatory
