Business Development Executive for Company Based in Dubai: Water Infrastructure
• Position based in Dubai
• Position requires extensive traveling throughout Africa
• Must have strong business development or sales in Water, or Power, or Oil and Gas or with a company like the African Development Bank
• Must understand Public Private Partnerships
• Client has requested for preferably African Nationality Candidates

Important Requirements:
Minimum number of years experience
• 5-10 years’ management experience in the water infrastructure, WASH policy, renewable energy, engineering, and/or consulting sector
• Business and commercial acumen developed over several years involving contract and commercial negotiations
• Previous experience in Africa is required

Formal Education and professional training or membership requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or business required
• A master’s degree in engineering or an MBA is a plus
• PPP qualification is a plus

The Business Development Executive is responsible for managing the relationships of the Company (the “JV”) with potential clients in Africa and managing projects through to Finance Close.
Accountable to the Executive Director, the Business Development Executive will be ultimately responsible for delivering a pipeline of qualified African water infrastructure opportunities and moving them to financial close. The Executive will strive to increase the size of the portfolio by ensuring new opportunities are developed, to ensure the execution of current and long-term objectives, development of projects in the region. They will have a strong understanding of infrastructure project development and ideally WASH policy experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Represents the company in front of local governments and third-party organizations
• Research and analyse African water markets and identify target countries, competitor activity and target projects.
• Understanding of African WASH policy and regulations and experience in its implementation.
• Identify new opportunities for water infrastructure investments using their network across Africa.
• Actively pursue opportunities as a member of the commercial team to initial commercial closure
• Acts as a focal point for international delegations and dignitary visits and is actively involved in speaking engagements and executive level presentations
• Grow the Africa region business by attracting and creating profitable opportunities
• Prepare PPP proposals and presentations.
• Use extensive knowledge of PPP processes to drive the PPP planning, development, negotiation processes through to Financial Close for specific allocated projects.
• Up to 40% travel across Africa.
• Competencies, Knowledge and Experience
• Business development experience in PPP preferably in Desalination, Water & Wastewater Treatment field at the utility level.
• WASH policy and regulation development
• Commercial acumen with the ability to identify and consider potential project risks within the proposal
• Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience.
• Strong understanding of customer dynamics and requirements
• Negotiation Skills
• An understanding of infrastructure financial models in the water PPP sector.
• An understanding and ability to negotiate PPP legal agreements.
• Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders
• Previous experience in dealing with Governments and Government organizations and closing deals through to Financial Close.
Communications
(People Management, Internal and External Stakeholders)
• Excellent communication skills – English, French is a plus.
• Sponsors’ business development team / project finance team department
• SPV clients/ government entities, financial entities
• Lenders including international banks and security agent
• Legal, Financial, Technical Tax advisors and auditors
• EPC and operations Contractors

Salary: Market related depending on Candidate’s current salary, skills, experience and qualifications, etc.
