CAD Manager Needed for Large Retail, Property Company based in Cape Town

The CAD Manager is responsible for providing technical support and specialist knowledge to the Business. The incumbent is responsible for actively maintaining and effectively using the CAD system while ensuring that all standards and best practice is maintained. This person is responsible for CAD office admin and document management to ensure efficiency. Attend to CAD design and drawing proposal requests and provide liaison and CAD support to both internal and external stakeholders. Overall, the incumbent is responsible for actively contributing to the creation and delivery of all Fit-Outs.

This role will report to the Senior Manager: Development and Fit Outs and will work alongside the existing CAD manager
The role supports and works closely in alignment with the CAD Manager in optimizing the CAD system, managing CAD documents, handling drawing requests, and facilitating communication between internal teams and external consultants.

Required to understand:
 Specialist knowledge of CAD and computer graphics software, in particular AutoCAD, Revit
 Computer application and relevant software
 Reading plans, design drawings, and technical specifications
 Project management principles and procedures
 Formal application and approval procedures related to Local Government regulations.
 Building/infrastructure/construction (industry knowledge)
 Construction and Building Codes
 Relevant Legislation, council submissions etc, national standards etc
 Retail and commercial space experience.
 Interior Design Experience (Critical)
 BIM Experience
 Architectural Technologist (Critical)
Qualifications:
 Degree / Diploma Built Environment
 CAD Certification – AutoCAD & Revit
 Other Programs advantages – Corel Draw, Photoshop or other Design Software
Experience: 3-5 Years’ Experience coordinating large commercial and retail projects
• Strong verbal and written communication must have the ability to deal with stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Permanent position – to commence asap.

Salary monthly (cost to company) – R50k – 55k (max) – up for discussion (depends on experience)

Objectives:
The following job objectives were found to be relevant to this job:
CAD Business Support & Drawings Management
• Maintain the CAD system and base plans
• Prepare design proposals of minor building alterations/additions and tenant layout alterations
• Assist with preparation of the building plan approval process and updating plans records
• Assist with drawings related to the official development “Bulk Register”
• Maintain the official Building Register Precinct Plan
• Consult, co-ordinate and manage as-built survey packages (2d and 3d surveys)
• Manage large scale format printing for the business
• Manage & co-ordinates with the relevant building architects on updates/changes
• Manage and co-ordinate drawing requests internally for the various departments – Development, Retail, Commercial, Marine, Operations, Finance department
– Externally for the various stakeholders i.e. tenants, architects

• Provide drawing support for the Town Planning Department with SDP Submissions
• Existing services drawing support /assistance for Precinct Wayleave applications

CAD Office & Document Management:
• Manage aspects such as CAD plotter printing paper supply, procure Autocad Renewals and assist with installations.
• Manage, co-ordinate and retrieve external consultant’s documents and drawing information requests.
• Manages and updates the CAD filing system – (As-built architectural and consultant’s drawings, precinct services drawings, tenant leasing base plans, archiving, document retrieval …etc)
– Manages the transferring process for drawings and documentation from drawings management systems to CAD filing system such as B.I.W , Aconex, Blue-beam, BIM 360, Plannon.
• Project Management Systems:
– Development department support (Administrator)
– for PPO- Project Portfolio Office System
CAD Protocols & Procedures:
• Develop, implement, and monitor CAD protocols and procedures to ensure that the Company complies with latest City regulations
• Hold regular departmental meetings

Stakeholder Management:
• Collaborate across the Business to ensure successful design and delivery
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service and exceptional output
• Develop strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders (internal /external)
• Consult with Development Project Managers, Property Managers etc. to determine tenant requirements and ensure that all protocols are followed
• Help to ensure that Fit-out protocols are established and adhered to across the board
• Provide specialist CAD knowledge and guidance to different Business Departments
