Experienced Interior Designer: Bespoke Niche Architectural Projects (Remote)
Position Overview:
Our client, a prestigious UK-based company, is seeking an experienced Interior Designer based in South Africa to design bespoke, high-end architectural projects for international clients. This remote position offers the opportunity to work on unique and challenging projects across the UK, Europe, Middle East, and the USA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proven Experience: A highly organised, motivated, and self-starting Interior Designer with strong time management skills and a focused work ethic.
• Design Expertise: Proficient in joinery design and interior detailing, with a keen eye for detail and extensive technical knowledge.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with a conscientious approach to detail.
• Technical Proficiency: Support senior designers and team members in producing professional working drawings and highly detailed joinery packages.
• Independent & Collaborative: Capable of working independently while also being an integral part of a larger international team, taking initiative and meeting deadlines with high standards of work.
• Remote Work: This is a home-based position, open to applicants anywhere in South Africa, with preference given to those based in Cape Town (all meetings are conducted digitally with a local team in Cape Town).
• Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; 3D capabilities are a bonus but not required.
• Office Suite Competency: Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
• International Projects: Work on diverse projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East, the USA.
• Experience: 5-7+ years of experience as a mid-senior level designer.
• Loadshedding Management: Candidates must be able to work through loadshedding without disruption (i.e., have their own generator or inverter).
• Eligibility: South African citizen or possess a valid work permit.
• Contract Details: Initial 1-month contract for evaluation, followed by a 3-month probationary period leading to a permanent position.
• Travel Opportunities: Potential for travel as part of the role.
• Driver’s License: Not essential but recommended.
Application Requirements:
• Portfolio: A comprehensive technical design portfolio must be submitted with the application, with an emphasis on detailed joinery technical drawings. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
• Tertiary qualification in Interior Design (Degree or Diploma).
• Additional experience in cabinet making or high-end joinery detailing is advantageous.
Remuneration & Package: A competitive salary package will be negotiated based on experience.
