Job Description: Intermediate Interior Designer Needed for Cape Town Studio

The main duties and responsibilities of the Intermediate Interior Designer:
Participate in client meetings and assist in taking project briefs & detailed minutes of meeting to relay to Senior team members.
1. Work with the Senior Interior Designer to design and present concepts, schematic stages (coordinate 3D visuals, select colour schemes), and detailed designs with the use of CAD, images, and sketches.
2. Collaborate with the CAD team to develop accurate drawings for detailed design submissions, ensuring all designs are in line with project goals and deadlines.
3. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to select materials and FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) that fit within the project’s budget and design aesthetic.
4. Assist in preparing and presenting FF&E specifications, ensuring that custom FF&E pieces align with project expectations and standards.
5. Develop material boards and ensure proper communication with clients and contractors regarding material selections and procurement.
6. Support project coordination at the Detailed Design Stage, ensuring smooth project development and communication between all team members.
7. Stay current with design trends, offering input and ideas that reflect contemporary styles, ensuring a fresh perspective on projects.
8. Work independently on smaller projects or sections of larger projects, ensuring high- quality results delivered on time and within budget.
9. Foster relationships with local suppliers to source materials and maintain an updated catalogue of relevant resources.
10. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the studio’s FF&E library and design resources.
11. Coordinate and manage the installation and arrangement of FF&E
12. Coordinate with architects, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Skills & Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in Interior Design, particularly in the high-end residential or commercial sectors.
• Proficiency in CAD, Photoshop, Sketchup and PowerPoint.
• Strong understanding of FF&E, material selection, and budget management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
Salary: Market related, depending on the Candidate’s current salary, skills, experience and qualifications.
