New Senior Role – Design and Build Lead – Head of Design – Corporate Interior Design Company – JHB

Lead a Design & Build Team to deliver successful turnkey projects. Some aspects of the role will include business development, preparing proposals & pitch presentations, ensuring the operational efficiency of the D&B team members reporting to you (designers, cost managers and project managers). The Design and Build Lead will report to the Regional Director for Occupier Services and will be accountable for achieving a specific P&L.
Manage the design and build team consisting of designers and project managers. Manage internal and external design resources. Achieve the goals and deliverables for the project as set out in the agreed project programme.

Achieve the profit targets defined in the overall project cost. Determine the design vision and allocate resources required for projects. Lead the D & B Process: delegating the planning, schematic design, design review/approval with clients, budget structuring, procurement & project management. Manage the design Project team, & outsourced contractors in the preparation of designs and technical documentation. Assess and balance design and budget goals, seek out the best solutions based on the cost parameters influencing each project. Support the procurement process advising the procurement office and streamlining procurement process with them. Manage furniture procurement. Manage the responses to construction teams, consultants and/or contractors with clarifications and revisions during the bid and construction period. Constantly assess changing schedules and priorities to ensure assigned responsibilities are coordinated with all relevant person/parties and completed on time. Building new and future “trusted partner” relationships in support of successful project delivery. Support the development of design standards, tools, and processes. Champion the brand and its realization in all forms. Ensure positive and continued communication between team members and external consultants, vendors, and partners.

Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design. Experience using Revit, AutoCAD; Adobe Suite and other software utilised for 3D presentation. Excel spreadsheet general proficiency to deliver: financial data to assess teams output performance and general P & L. Review project profitability with cost managers. 5 – 8 years’ experience in a similar role.
Corporate Fit-out project experience. Experience in all work stages: Concept design, design development, technical documentation, procurement, and site inspections. Design & Build/Turnkey project experience.

Salary on offer will depend on experience.

Budget for the right Candidate, with the right experience is: R85 000 Gross – R95 000 Gross
