Senior Architect / Senior Architectural Technologist

About the Role
A well-established architectural practice based in Johannesburg, is seeking Senior Architects and Senior Architectural Technologists to join its team. The ideal candidates will bring extensive technical expertise, strong design sensibility, and proven experience in delivering large commercial projects from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities
Project Documentation & Coordination
• Lead and produce comprehensive, coordinated, and fully integrated construction documentation.
• Translate design intent into detailed technical drawings, ensuring accuracy, buildability, and alignment with project requirements.
• Oversee and support documentation teams, maintaining quality standards across all drawings and models.
Project Stages (Work Stages 3–5)
• Develop detailed design packages, technical specifications, and documentation required for municipal submissions.
• Prepare and coordinate tender documentation.
• Provide technical leadership during construction, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and ensuring compliance with design intent.
Design & Technical Expertise
• Contribute to design development with both technical depth and creative insight.
• Ensure all designs meet regulatory standards, building codes, and best practice guidelines.
• Translate complex design concepts into efficient, practical solutions suitable for construction.

Required Skills & Competencies
• SACAP Registration as either a Senior Architect or Senior Architectural Technologist.
• 10+ years’ experience working on large-scale commercial projects.
• Strong technological grounding with the ability to integrate multiple systems into coordinated documentation.
• Advanced Revit proficiency with a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in Lumion and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, detailing, and site coordination.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Site experience will be considered a significant advantage.
