A well-established architectural and design practice based in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Senior Associate / Architect to join its leadership team. This role is ideal for a senior professional with strong design and technical expertise, proven people-management experience, and the ability to oversee projects from concept through construction.
The successful candidate will play a key role in design leadership, project delivery, and team management, contributing to the continued growth and quality of the practice.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead architectural projects through all stages, from concept design to construction and close-out
• Provide design direction and technical oversight to project teams
• Manage and mentor architects, technologists, and junior staff members
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities
• Oversee project programming, deliverables, and quality control
• Conduct regular on-site inspections to ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, and statutory requirements
• Resolve complex design and construction issues as they arise
• Contribute to project management activities, including scheduling, coordination, and reporting
• Support business and client relationship development where required

Qualifications & Experience
• Master’s degree in Architecture (MArch) or Architectural Technology (MTech)
• Minimum 8 years’ professional experience in architectural practice
• At least 3 years’ experience in a management or senior leadership role
• Experience in hospitality design is advantageous
• Project management experience is beneficial
• Strong on-site construction and contract administration experience (essential)
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects
