Senior Conceptual Designer Needed for Design Company based in Johannesburg

We are looking for a Designer that’s an all-rounder, can conceptualise and provide supporting technical documentation (restaurant experience is a big advantage but someone that’s more an all rounder). Middleweight to Senior  role and  also needs to be able to do shopfitting details and have knowledge on finishing and specification.

Job Description:

As a Senior Conceptual Interior Designer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the conceptualization and development of innovative interior design concepts for diverse projects ranging from commercial spaces to residential properties. Leveraging your extensive experience and creative vision, you will collaborate closely with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to translate abstract ideas into compelling design narratives that resonate with target audiences and evoke emotional responses. Your expertise in conceptualization, storytelling, and trend forecasting will be instrumental in shaping memorable interior environments that surpass client expectations and set industry benchmarks.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualization: Lead the ideation process to develop unique and cohesive design concepts that align with project goals, brand identities, and user experiences.
  • Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives and mood boards that articulate design concepts, themes, and visual aesthetics to clients and project teams.
  • Research: Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, cultural influences, and emerging technologies to inform design strategies and enhance project relevance and innovation.
  • Visualization: Create captivating 2D sketches, 3D renderings, and presentation materials to communicate design concepts effectively and facilitate client decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, graphic designers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design elements and alignment with project requirements.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through proactive communication, attentive listening, and responsiveness to their needs and feedback.
  • Leadership: Mentor junior designers, provide guidance and feedback, and foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, excellence, and professional growth.
  • Quality Assurance: Review design deliverables, materials, and finishes to ensure alignment with design intent, feasibility, and budgetary constraints.
  • Project Management: Oversee the execution of design concepts from concept development through to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in conceptual interior design, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects across various sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools.
  • Exceptional conceptual thinking, storytelling, and visual communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles, spatial planning, materials, and finishes.
  • Ability to inspire and lead cross-functional design teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Excellent client-facing and presentation skills, with a knack for building rapport and gaining client trust.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for excellence and continuous learning.
  • Professional certifications or memberships in relevant design organizations are a plus

 

Salary: R30 000 Gross – R40 000 Gross (Depending on Candidate’s current Salary, skills, experience and qualifications, etc.
