The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Interior Designer with extensive experience in designing and delivering complex, detailed interior environments. You will manage the technical development of design projects, ensuring that all technical aspects, from schematic design through to construction documentation and site delivery, are executed with precision. You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical documentation and collaborating closely with architects, contractors, and project teams to ensure designs are implemented as envisioned.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the technical design development of interior projects, from schematic design to final construction documentation.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure seamless integration of interior designs with overall building systems.
• Develop and produce detailed technical drawings, construction documents, and specifications.
• Oversee the implementation of design concepts on-site, ensuring adherence to technical standards, budgets, and timelines.
• Conduct thorough technical reviews to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution.
• Manage the preparation of technical packages and specifications, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
• Maintain high standards of quality control and accuracy in all technical documentation.
• Provide technical support to project teams during construction and delivery phases.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Proven experience in technical interior design, with a focus on detailed design and construction documentation.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and technical feasibility.
• Expertise in producing technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Proficiency in design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
• Ability to resolve technical challenges and provide practical, creative solutions.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards within South Africa.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in all technical deliverables.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with contractors, architects, and project teams.
• Ability to manage multiple technical aspects of a project simultaneously.
• Methodical, organised approach with a focus on delivering within deadlines and budgets.
• A proactive approach to identifying and solving potential issues before they arise.
• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a flexible approach to working with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification in Interior Design or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp is essential.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
