Job Title: Technical Interior Designer (High-End Residential)
Location: Paarl, Cape Town (Full-Time, Office-Based)
Our client, a leading high-end residential design studio based in Paarl, Cape Town, is seeking a talented and technically strong Interior Designer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a designer who is passionate about luxury residential interiors and thrives in a hands-on, detail-driven environment.
This is a full-time, office-based role with regular site involvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in both the creative and technical execution of bespoke residential projects.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Concept Development
• Develop strong, original design concepts for high-end residential projects
• Create cohesive and intentional moodboards and client presentations
• Translate concepts into practical, buildable design solutions
• Present designs confidently to clients
Technical Drawing & Documentation
• Produce complete and independent technical drawing sets
• Create detailed joinery drawings
• Develop layouts, elevations, and sections
• Prepare accurate documentation for contractors and suppliers
• Take full ownership of technical output and drawing packages
Project Execution & Site Coordination
• Conduct regular site visits
• Liaise directly with contractors and suppliers
• Manage snag lists and ensure quality control
• Solve site-related design and technical challenges in real time
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure design intent is maintained

Required Experience & Background
• 3–8+ years of relevant interior design experience (residential experience highly preferred)
• Formal qualification in Interior Design or Interior Architecture preferred, but strong practical experience will be considered
• Proven site experience
• Strong technical drawing capability
• Experience coordinating with contractors and suppliers
• Ability to manage projects from concept through to implementation

Software Requirements
Mandatory:
• AutoCAD (confident, independent user)
• Microsoft Excel
Highly Preferred:
• SketchUp and/or Revit
• Canva (for client presentations)
Bonus:
• Rendering platforms
• 3D visualisation tools

Portfolio Requirements
Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating:
• Strong concept development (not only renders)
• Technical depth, including sections, details, and joinery drawings
• Cohesive and intentional moodboards
• Real, executed projects (not only student work)
• A clear and confident design voice
Candidates who demonstrate both creativity and technical competency will be highly regarded.

This is a client-facing, execution-focused role requiring a balance of creativity, technical precision, and operational involvement. The ideal candidate is confident presenting to clients and equally comfortable producing detailed technical documentation and managing on-site implementation.
