CONSTRUCTION EXECUTIVE – POSITION BASED IN MAURITIUS

Mauritius | Senior Executive-Level Opportunity
A leading and well-established construction company based in Mauritius is seeking an experienced Construction Executive to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across its construction projects, sites, plant and yard operations.
This is a senior leadership position suited to an accomplished Building & Civil Engineering professional with extensive site and operational experience, strong commercial awareness and the ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, project performance, quality, safety, financial control and continuous improvement, while ensuring that construction activities are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
• Provide executive leadership and oversight across all construction sites, projects, plant and yard operations.
• Lead and manage senior construction and operational teams, including Contracts Managers, Site Managers, Workshop and Yard teams and Commercial functions.
• Oversee the successful planning, execution and delivery of multiple construction projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity, accountability and continuous improvement across the construction division.
• Provide strategic input during tender preparation, including project feasibility, risk assessment, profitability, resources and programme evaluation.
• Review tender programmes and ensure proposed timelines and resources are realistic and achievable.
• Ensure effective tender handovers to construction teams, with all risks and key issues identified and addressed.
• Maintain strong focus on Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance across all projects.
• Establish and maintain robust quality assurance and quality control systems, promoting a “Right First Time” culture.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor project financial performance, profitability, expenditure, procurement and cost control.
• Review and approve key expenditure and motivate CAPEX requirements where appropriate.
• Identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation and contingency plans.
• Drive resource planning to ensure projects have the required manpower, materials, plant, equipment and subcontractor support.
• Develop and retain high-performing construction teams through effective leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Introduce and implement improved construction systems, processes, reporting structures and technologies.
• Identify opportunities to utilise BIM, AI, drones, modular construction and other emerging construction technologies.
• Oversee contract management and ensure compliance with contractual, legal and governance requirements.
• Support business growth, strategic planning and expansion into new markets and sectors.
• Promote sustainable construction practices and compliance with environmental standards such as LEED and BREEAM.
• Represent the organisation at senior client, consultant, stakeholder and industry meetings.
• Manage escalated project issues and provide decisive leadership during operational or construction-related crises.
• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, teamwork, safety, client satisfaction and continuous improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Degree in Building & Civil Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• 15+ years’ senior-level experience within the Building & Civil Engineering / Construction environment.
• Extensive and proven site-based construction experience is essential.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
• Proven experience managing multiple construction projects and senior operational teams.
• Strong commercial, financial and business analysis capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, project management and operational systems.
• Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Experience with construction-related software, project management systems and reporting platforms.

Basic Salary MUR 250k to MUR 350k
USD 5,200 to USD 7,400
