Exciting Opportunity for a Highly Creative Design Architect
A respected and design-focused architectural practice based in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking an experienced and exceptionally talented Design Architect to join their growing team.
This opportunity is ideal for a highly creative, design-led professional who has a proven track record of independently designing buildings from concept through to resolved architectural schemes. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping projects from inception and must demonstrate outstanding design ability aligned with a high architectural standard.

The Role
We are looking for a Design Architect with 5–8+ years of experience, who has been directly responsible for designing buildings from scratch — not simply contributing in a support role.
This role requires a professional with strong conceptual ability, excellent spatial awareness, and the technical skill to translate ideas into compelling architectural solutions and high-quality visual presentations.
The ideal candidate must be passionate about architecture, design excellence, and innovation, while also being able to confidently communicate and visually present concepts to clients through compelling renders and presentation material.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop architectural building designs from concept stage
• Independently design projects in 3D from inception through to developed design
• Produce strong architectural concepts that align with the practice’s design quality and standards
• Create high-end architectural visualisations and renders to effectively communicate and sell design schemes
• Develop and refine building concepts in Revit
• Produce realistic, presentation-quality renders using Lumion and/or D5 Rendering Software
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure design intent is carried through project stages
• Present innovative and practical design solutions while balancing aesthetics, function, and feasibility
Requirements
• Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in architectural building design
• Proven experience independently designing buildings from scratch
• Strong portfolio demonstrating outstanding design ability and creativity
• Must have worked on projects as the lead designer, not purely in a supporting capacity
• Advanced proficiency in Revit (essential)
• Strong skills in Lumion and/or D5 Render
• Ability to create high-quality renders and visual presentations capable of securing project approval and client buy-in
• Excellent conceptual and 3D design skills
• Strong communication and presentation abilities
• Passion for architecture and design excellence
• Must be Durban-based or willing to relocate to KwaZulu-Natal
