The Opportunity
A respected and expanding hospitality advisory and design practice is seeking an accomplished Director of Projects to join its Cape Town-based leadership team.
This senior appointment is suited to an experienced professional who combines strong project leadership with a deep understanding of hospitality environments, interior design and client advisory services. The successful individual will take overall responsibility for the successful planning, coordination and delivery of multiple hospitality and lifestyle projects across both local and international markets.
Working closely with executive management, clients, consultants and project teams, you will oversee projects from initial briefing and concept strategy through to implementation and final handover.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional stakeholder management skills, commercial awareness and proven experience working with international clients and globally recognised hospitality brands.
Core Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
• Assume overall responsibility for the successful execution of hospitality, restaurant, hotel and mixed-use projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget and in line with agreed quality standards.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strong attention to detail and client satisfaction.
• Drive project programmes, implementation schedules and key deliverables across all project phases.
• Monitor project performance, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions where required.
Client & Stakeholder Management
• Build trusted relationships with local and international clients, operators, investors and strategic partners.
• Facilitate project workshops, briefing sessions and design review meetings.
• Present concepts, project updates and strategic recommendations to senior decision-makers and executive stakeholders.
• Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring a consistently high level of service delivery.
• Foster strong relationships with architects, consultants, contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers.
Strategy, Proposals & Business Development
• Prepare compelling proposals, capability presentations and project documentation.
• Develop visually engaging presentations, pitch material and strategic reports using Canva and related software platforms.
• Support new business initiatives through networking, client engagement and proposal development.
• Participate in industry events, client meetings and business development activities to strengthen market presence.
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and expansion of the business.
Project Coordination & Implementation
• Coordinate all aspects of project delivery, including procurement schedules, installation programmes and project timelines.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with approved specifications.
• Review project documentation, drawings and specifications to ensure design intent is successfully executed.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve project challenges and maintain programme momentum.
• Oversee reporting processes and communicate project status to relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education & Industry Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Project Management, Hospitality Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience within hospitality design, project management, consultancy or related sectors.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex hospitality, restaurant, lodge, hotel or commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of hospitality operations, design processes and project execution methodologies.
• Proven track record managing projects for international clients or multinational organisations.
• Experience working across multiple regions, cultures and time zones will be highly advantageous.
Technical Capabilities
• Advanced presentation development skills with strong proficiency in Canva.
• Excellent proposal writing and business communication abilities.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Exceptional organisational and programme management skills.
