Job Title: Key Account Manager
Location: Cape Town (Full-Time)
Industry: Kitchen Design & Built Environment
Our client, a well-established and respected company specialising in kitchen design and the built industry, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Key Account Manager to join their Cape Town team.
This role is ideal for a professional who excels at managing high-value client relationships, overseeing complex projects, and driving commercial success within the design, manufacturing, and construction environment.

Key Responsibilities
Key Account & Client Relationship Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, including developers, architects, and contractors
• Build and maintain long-term, trusted client relationships to support repeat business and referrals
• Proactively manage client communication, expectations, and issue resolution
• Identify opportunities to grow account value through upselling, cross-selling, and scope optimisation
Sales, Tenders & Commercial Management
• Prepare and submit accurate, competitive quotations and tender submissions
• Participate in tender negotiations and commercial discussions with clients and consultants
• Ensure pricing, scope, and assumptions are clearly defined prior to project handover
• Protect company margins through disciplined and strategic commercial decision-making
• Demonstrate sound understanding of JBCC contracts or similar contractual frameworks
Design, Shop Drawings & Technical Coordination
• Coordinate and review shop drawings to ensure technical accuracy and buildability
• Conduct and oversee site measurements and technical site inspections
• Liaise with design, production, and installation teams to resolve technical queries efficiently
Project & Production Handover Management
• Manage structured handovers from sales to production and installation teams
• Confirm specifications, finishes, timelines, and client expectations prior to manufacturing
• Monitor project timelines and proactively address potential risks
Project Execution & Close-Out
• Track project progress through manufacturing, delivery, and installation phases
• Coordinate final inspections, handovers, and client sign-offs
• Ensure all contractual and project deliverables are met prior to close-out
Team Leadership & Support Staff Management
• Manage and oversee assigned support staff
• Allocate tasks, set priorities, and monitor workflow efficiency
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback
• Maintain accountability, discipline, and professional standards within the team
• Coordinate effectively with internal design, production, and installation teams

Minimum Requirements
Education
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Sales, Design, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (advantageous)
Experience
• Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in a Sales or Key Account Management role
• Experience within joinery, kitchen design, construction, interiors, manufacturing, or related built-environment industries is highly preferred
• Proven experience working with JBCC contracts or similar contractual agreements
• Demonstrated experience managing high-value clients and complex, multi-disciplinary projects from tender through to installation and completion
• Proven ability to coordinate internal teams, including design, production, and installation
• Experience managing or overseeing support staff
