Landscape Architect Needed for a Landscape Architectural Firm based in Johannesburg

As a Landscape Architect, you will be responsible for creating sustainable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces that enhance the natural environment, promote wellness, and enrich communities. Leveraging your expertise in landscape design, urban planning, and environmental conservation, you will collaborate with clients, engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to envision and realize innovative landscape solutions for a variety of projects, ranging from public parks and residential developments to corporate campuses and urban revitalization initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Conceptual Design: Develop creative and site-specific landscape design concepts that integrate ecological principles, cultural context, and user needs while addressing project objectives and constraints.
• Master Planning: Prepare master plans, site plans, and landscape drawings that articulate design intent, spatial organization, circulation patterns, and programmatic elements in a clear and cohesive manner.
• Planting Design: Select appropriate plant species, trees, shrubs, and ground covers based on site conditions, microclimates, maintenance considerations, and aesthetic preferences, ensuring biodiversity and seasonal interest.
• Hardscape Design: Integrate hardscape elements such as pathways, plazas, retaining walls, and water features harmoniously into the landscape, balancing functionality, durability, and visual appeal.
• Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable design strategies such as stormwater management, green infrastructure, native plantings, and habitat restoration to minimize environmental impact and enhance resilience.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture
• Professional licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Landscape Architect
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS.
• Strong knowledge of landscape design principles, plant materials, construction techniques, and project management processes
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
