Procurement / Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (QS)
Location: Kramerville, Sandton Salary: Market-related (dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills)

Our client, based in Kramerville, Sandton, specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of high-quality bespoke timber furniture and shopfitting solutions. Their expertise includes custom interior joinery, built-in cupboards, studies, vanities, and tailor-made furniture manufactured to client specifications. They also produce furniture ranges for leading national retailers.
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement / Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join their growing team. This role combines procurement, estimating, and quantity surveying responsibilities, ensuring projects are accurately costed, materials are procured efficiently, and budgets are effectively managed from tender stage through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Quantity Surveying
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for bespoke joinery, furniture, shopfitting, and interior fit-out projects.
• Interpret architectural drawings, manufacturing drawings, and specifications.
• Perform quantity take-offs and material calculations.
• Compile Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Prepare project cost plans and budgets.
• Monitor project costs throughout production and installation.
• Analyse project profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Procurement
• Source and procure timber, hardware, fittings, and other manufacturing materials
• Obtain competitive supplier quotations
• Negotiate pricing and supplier agreements
• Manage purchase orders and supplier relationships
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate material deliveries
• Ensure procurement aligns with project timelines and budgets
Project Cost Control
• Track project expenditure against budgets
• Prepare cost reports and forecasts
• Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions
• Assist with contract administration and variation pricing
Supplier & Client Liaison
• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and deliveries
• Work closely with production, project managers, designers, and installation teams
• Assist clients with cost-related queries where required
Administration & Reporting
• Maintain accurate procurement and costing records
• Prepare tender documentation and pricing schedules
• Produce regular procurement and project cost reports
• Ensure all documentation is accurately filed and updated
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Procurement, or a related field.
3–8+ years’ experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or procurement within the shopfitting, interior fit-out, joinery, cabinetry, or furniture manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of timber manufacturing processes and materials
• Experience reading architectural and manufacturing drawings
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
• Strong knowledge of costing principles and project budgeting
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Experience with estimating or ERP software will be advantageous
