Professional Project Architect Needed for Architectural Firm Based in Cape Town: Revit & ArchiCAD 

 The opportunity:

Great opportunity for an enthusiastic design-orientated architect who will be involved in the architectural design and technical aspects of projects, from initiation/concept development and construction.

Excellent project management and communication skills, are adept at presenting internally and externally with clarity and have a sound understanding of the technical aspects and commercial feasibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Professional licensure (Registered Architect) preferred.
  • Minimum of [X] years of experience in architectural practice, with a proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other relevant architectural software.
  • Strong design sensibility and creativity, coupled with a deep understanding of architectural principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges and changes.
  • Must be SACAP registered as a Professional Architect
  • Must be proficient in Revit (a Revit assessment will be conducted)

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage architectural projects from initial concept through construction administration, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Design Development: Develop innovative and functional architectural designs that meet the needs and aspirations of clients while complying with building codes and regulations.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their vision, objectives, and requirements, and translate them into creative and feasible design solutions.
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate with internal teams, including designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants, to integrate architectural design with other project components and disciplines.
  • Documentation: Prepare and review architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the quality of design work and construction documentation through regular reviews and coordination meetings, maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and technical excellence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant building codes, zoning ordinances, and regulatory requirements, and ensure that designs and documentation comply with all applicable standards.
  • Construction Administration: Provide on-site support during construction phases, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with project team members, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to facilitate smooth project progression and resolve any conflicts or challenges that may arise.
  • Continuing Education: Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in architecture and design through continuous learning and professional development activities.

Personal attributes and experience:

You are a globally-minded individual with a proactive, positive, and client-centric attitude. You have an excellent academic background and are SACAP registered as a Professional Architect.

With at least ten years post-qualification experience, you have demonstrable design skills. You have had experience from design inception stage to construction, on a variety of large-scale/complex projects.

Your strong aesthetic sensitivity and thorough technical knowledge is complemented by expertise in construction drawing and detailing, an intricate understanding of building systems and materials, and infallible knowledge of practice and industry standards and codes.

A clear and precise communicator, you thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, enjoy working collaboratively and imparting your knowledge while contributing to multiple teams, and have exemplary time-management and delivery skills.

You are Revit & BIM CDE proficient and possess working knowledge of Enscape, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and Microsoft software.  A thorough understanding of all collaboration techniques, modelling techniques and Revit best practices is expected. Prior training and certifications in Revit and other Autodesk software is a must.
