Location: Sandton / Johannesburg
Position: Permanent | Full-Time | Office-Based
Salary: R70,000 – R100,000 CTC per month, depending on experience
Benefits: 20 days annual leave
THE OPPORTUNITY
An established architectural practice is seeking a highly experienced Professional Senior Architect / Principal Project Architect to work closely with the Director in a key second-in-command (2IC) role.
This is an all-round architectural position suited to a confident, hands-on professional who can take ownership of projects, lead and manage teams, oversee the production process and support the Director across all aspects of the business.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving projects from design development through to documentation and delivery, ensuring that teams remain productive, deadlines are met and the quality of work is maintained.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with the Director across all projects and provide senior architectural and operational support.
• Manage, lead and motivate architectural teams, driving productivity and accountability.
• Oversee projects from design development through to technical documentation and delivery.
• Drive the design development, coordination and production processes.
• Execute and develop design concepts in collaboration with the Director.
• Manage project programmes, resources, deadlines and deliverables.
• Oversee technical drawings, documentation and quality control.
• Assist with the day-to-day running of the office and ensure efficient project execution.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Provide hands-on architectural input while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
REQUIREMENTS
• Professional Architect registered with SACAP.
• Extensive experience as a Senior Architect, Principal Project Architect or similar.
• Strong project leadership, team management and organisational skills.
• Advanced Revit proficiency is essential.
• Excellent technical documentation and construction detailing experience.
• Ability to manage teams, drive production and take ownership of project delivery.
• A confident, decisive personality with strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Comfortable working directly with company directors in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Must be willing to work full-time from the office in Sandton / Johannesburg.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
An experienced, hands-on architectural professional who can act as the Director’s right-hand person, take charge of project delivery, lead the team and ensure the smooth running of the architectural production process.
Salary: R70,000 – R100,000 CTC per month, depending on experience, plus 20 days annual leave.
