Overview:
A well-known architectural firm based in Cape Town, specialising in both leisure and hospitality projects as well as commercial developments locally and abroad, is seeking a technically strong Senior Architectural Technologist to join their team. This position is focused on the technical execution of projects, with primary responsibility across SACAP Stages 3–6. The ideal candidate will bring solid experience in construction documentation, detailing, site coordination, and technical compliance. This is not a design-focused role, but one requiring accuracy, construction knowledge, and team coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
SACAP Stage 3–6 Involvement:
• Stage 3: Design Development
Translate concept designs into resolved, buildable solutions in collaboration with project leads and consultants.
• Stage 4: Documentation & Procurement
Prepare comprehensive, compliant construction documentation packages, including drawings, schedules, and specifications.
• Stage 5: Construction
Attend site meetings, resolve technical queries, coordinate with contractors, and respond to RFIs.
• Stage 6: Close-Out
Assist in the preparation of as-built documentation and project close-out procedures.
Technical Documentation & Construction Detailing:
• Develop highly detailed Revit models and 2D documentation across all relevant architectural outputs.
• Produce accurate detailing for walls, façades, junctions, materials, and bespoke components.
• Apply knowledge of construction methods, materials, and technical standards.
Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to coordinate drawings and specifications.
• Support contract administration with accurate, on-time documentation updates and clarifications.
• Engage with municipal and statutory authorities as required for compliance and approvals.
Quality & Compliance:
• Ensure all work complies with national building regulations (SANS 10400), health & safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Maintain consistency in drawing standards, naming conventions, and file management.

Requirements:
• Minimum National Diploma or BTech in Architectural Technology.
• SACAP registration (Professional Senior Architectural Technologist/Senior Architectural Technologist) is essential.
• Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in an architectural practice, with a strong technical portfolio.
• Proven proficiency in Revit for full documentation delivery (non-negotiable).
• Strong understanding of local construction processes, building systems, and materials.
• Familiarity with local authority processes and submission requirements.

Desirable Skills:
• Experience working on high-end hospitality or commercial projects.
• Familiarity with coordination between architecture and specialist systems (e.g., façades, membranes, modular components).
• Ability to lead the documentation process on medium to large-scale projects.
• Working knowledge of SketchUp, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and InDesign for presentation purposes (an advantage).
