Shopfitting & Furniture Designer
Location: Kramerville, Sandton
Department: Design & Production
Salary: R20,000 – R35,000 per month (Dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills)

Our client, based in Kramerville, Sandton, specialises in high-quality bespoke timber furniture, shopfitting,interior joinery, built-in cupboards, studies, vanities, and custom furniture manufactured to client specifications. They also produce furniture ranges for national retailers.
They are seeking a talented and detail-oriented
Shopfitting & Furniture Designer
to join their Design &Production team.

Purpose of the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and 3D models forbespoke furniture and shopfitting projects. The role bridges the gap between design concepts andmanufacturing by ensuring all drawings are practical, production-ready, cost-effective, and aligned withquality standards.
The position reports directly to the Design Manager / Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings for bespoke furniture and shopfitting projects.
Convert design concepts and client requirements into accurate manufacturing drawings.
Collaborate with designers, project managers, and workshop staff to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
Maintain drawing standards, templates, and drawing libraries.
Revise drawings based on client, designer, and workshop feedback.
Prepare cutting lists, material schedules, and assembly instructions for production.
Ensure compliance with material specifications, ergonomic standards, and manufacturing requirements.
Liaise with suppliers regarding fittings, hardware, and materials.
Provide technical support and documentation to installation teams during site installations.
Requirements
Minimum of2–3 years’ experience in furniture design, shopfitting, or a related manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of timber materials, joinery methods, and furniture construction.
Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp or similar.
Ability to interpret design briefs and produce accurate production drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Good problem-solving ability and time management skills.
Experience with CNC machinery and production workflows will be advantageous.
